Updating windows 98 to 98se debt consolidating counseling
I realize that it is almost a year after this topic was first posted but I just decided to install Windows 98se onto a system and came across this. So things that were included after version three(v3) of HTML - WILL BE IGNORED. The thing about HTML, XML, CSS, and any other part to the web specifically states that if the commands are not recognized - they must be ignored.
Since a couple of the answers are not exactly right - I thought I'd reply. It IS compatible with any website currently on the internet BUT it may not run all of the content on those websites. This was done so older web browsers would not crash when they come across something they are not capable to handle.
there has GOT to be an unofficial download somewhere where I can get these!!!
I just formatted a Windows 98 computer and reinstalled Windows 98 SE and it runs worse than it did when ran with all the junk from the guy who threw the computer out on it!!!
obviously Microsoft doesn't have them any more and Windows 98 SE isn't even internet compatible anymore...
Google only brought up a bunch of fake, broken, or microsoft links that claim they aren't supported...
That was really nice to be able to do that but it also meant the entire screen on the //gs was taken up with disk drive icons.
It also seems that you can install all of the fixes manually from the MS site going by the second link, but this would be rather tedious.
As soon as I read the thread title I knew all the answers were going to be about the unofficial stuff...
some things never change The unofficial patches only add bloat, change the appearence and are simply pointless if you are not one of these people who are desperately trying to run all sorts of modern stuff on such a computer.
As far as unofficial patches go, I find that NUSB is all you really need if you have that rig just for gaming.
You will see that the OS is (or was) Windows 98se (because that information is sent to the server every time I do something).
